UniPrint - 'unavailable' message following a recent Windows Update

Resolved
Resolved

The new UniPrint Ricoh queue should now have been made available to University Windows devices.

The queue will appear as 'UniPrint Ricoh on prn-l-spl-*.st-andrews.ac.uk' - where * is number 1,2 or 3.

You can choose to make this your new default queue via Windows Settings > Bluetooth and Devices > Printers and Scanners.

If your laptop has not yet received the new print queue, you can add it manually.

Select the Windows Start Menu > Run – and paste the queue address below:

\\prn-l-spl-1.st-andrews.ac.uk\queue-ricoh

The new queue should appear in Windows Start Menu > Settings > Bluetooth and Devices > Printers and Scanners.

If you require any further assistance, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this was being carried out.

Recovering

We’re making a change to UniPrint to improve printing from University-issued Windows devices.

In the coming days, a new UniPrint option will automatically appear on your University Windows device. When printing, please select: UniPrint Ricoh on prn-l-spl-1.st-andrews.ac.uk

You may see a number 1, 2 or 3 associated with the new printer. It may also take up to two restarts of your device before the new option appears.

The existing “UniPrint Ricoh” option will stop working over the coming days, so please use the new option for future printing.

This change only affects University-issued Windows devices. Student devices and macOS devices are not affected and can continue to use their existing print setup.
